Crowdfunding for START W/A PROJECT

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

We are seeking crowdfunding support for our START W/A PROJECT.

Join us in supporting entrepreneurial women in countries with fragile economies through the Coachability Foundation. Our mission is to collaborate, empower, and facilitate the creation of professional projects using creativity. We believe in promoting innovation and creativity for the economic, social, and cultural development of women entrepreneurs in fragile economies who aspire to launch their own projects. However, these women face numerous challenges such as unequal opportunities, insufficient training, and lack of support, particularly for young single mothers.

We are embarking on a new project aimed at inspiring and empowering women farmers in Kenya. Our main goal is to facilitate their adaptation to agroforestry, a practice that will increase their farms' climate resilience, productivity, and fertility while regenerating degraded land. Through comprehensive training, we aim to equip these women with the knowledge and skills needed to implement agroforestry successfully.

Currently, Kenya's vegetation, soil, and people are suffering from the detrimental impacts of overgrazing, deforestation, and climate change in nearly all counties. To address these challenges, our local NGO, in collaboration with the Coachability Foundation, is proposing a solution: Regenerative Agroforestry. With the establishment of a Model Farm and Model School, we will promote sustainable and climate-resilient production systems that utilize trees and climate-smart agriculture.

The adverse effects of climate change on crop production in the target communities are already evident. The growing season is shrinking, characterized by dry spells and erratic rains. Declining soil fertility leads to poor crop yields, contributing to low incomes and poverty. Additionally, issues like deforestation, forest degradation, unsustainable charcoal and fuel wood production, and bushfires threaten these communities. Climate risks are expected to further increase in these low-income communities, where adaptive capacity is weaker. The target project communities are under threat from climate change.

Our solution involves designing and implementing a Model Farm that showcases different regenerative agroforestry systems suitable for the local context. We specifically aim to highlight the benefits of these practices for women farmers. In parallel, we will establish an educational program, the Model School, to facilitate capacity-building and knowledge creation.

By supporting our project, you will empower the livelihoods of local communities and promote innovative agroforestry models for conservation purposes, while enhancing adaptive capacity. Our specific objectives include stimulating the adoption of climate-smart agriculture through field demonstrations, diversifying livelihoods in the communities, triggering attitudinal and behavioral change through awareness campaigns, initiating tree planting programs in the target community and surrounding schools, and enhancing carbon stocks through the establishment of woodlots and trees on farms and school compounds.

Our project represents the best possible solution as it strengthens climate resilience across all four dimensions of food security: availability, access, stability, and utilization. It promotes precision agriculture, improved extension services on climate-smart agriculture practices, and a pilot initiative to increase income and improve climate resilience for women farmers.

We cannot achieve our goals without your support. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in the lives of these entrepreneurial women and their communities. Join us in empowering them to create sustainable businesses and drive positive change in their fragile economies.

Together, we can build a brighter future for all.
