Help Empower Women through Clean Water Access in Tharaka Nithi County.
1. The Situation
• As of 2024, more than 38% of Kenyans still lack access to safely managed drinking water sources. Rural counties such as Tharaka Nithi remain among the most affected (UNICEF, 2024).
• Only 10 out of 60 public water service providers in Kenya offer continuous water supply. Most communities depend on intermittent or unsafe sources (World Bank, 2024).
• Over 18 million people rely on contaminated water, increasing the prevalence of preventable diseases such as cholera and diarrhea (Ministry of Health & UNICEF, 2024).
• Women and girls spend up to six hours daily fetching water from distant sources. This reduces their access to education, health, and economic opportunities.
• Climate change continues to intensify water scarcity, with droughts and unpredictable rainfall affecting the sustainability of existing water systems (Kenya Meteorological Department, 2024).

2. Our Mission
Access to clean water is a fundamental human right. In Tharaka Nithi County, women still walk long distances to collect water from unsafe sources. Our mission is to change this reality by drilling boreholes and developing sustainable, community-managed water systems.
Through our Clean Water for Empowerment Program, we aim to:
• Drill boreholes in water-scarce areas.
• Install solar-powered pumps and irrigation systems.
• Provide durable water tanks for safe water storage.
• Train local women in water management and system maintenance.
3. Impact Goals
— Health: Reduce waterborne diseases and improve sanitation.
— Education: Enable girls to attend school regularly.
— Economy: Increase women’s participation in income-generating activities.
— Sustainability: Promote climate-resilient water management practices.
4. How You Can Help
Your contribution directly supports water access and women’s empowerment.
Estimated project costs:
• Drilling one borehole: 800,000 Ksh (≈ €5,153.5)
• Irrigation piping for 30 families: 600,000 Ksh (≈ €3,869)
• One water tank: 100,000 Ksh (≈ €644.16)
• Target: 30 tanks (≈ €19,324 total)
Each donation brings the community closer to self-reliance and resilience.
5. Join Us
Together, we can create a future where clean water is accessible to all and women have the opportunity to lead, learn, and thrive.
Your support can transform lives in Tharaka Nithi County. Donate today and help empower women through clean water access.
